Privacy Policy

Boatload is an unofficial ferry schedule app for the Fire Island Pines and Cherry Grove routes. This policy explains what information the Boatload mobile app and website handle, and why. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to show schedules and run the optional Boatload Plus subscription.

Boatload has no rider accounts — you do not create a login, and we do not ask for your name, email, or address to use the app.

Your preferences — your single favorite route and any departure reminders you set — are stored locally on your device only. They are not sent to us and are removed if you delete the app.

If you enable notifications, your device generates a push notification token that we store on our servers so we can send you ferry service alerts. This token identifies the device, not you personally, and you can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings. We retain your push token only while notifications are enabled. If you disable notifications or delete the app, the token is removed.

Departure reminders you schedule yourself are delivered as local notifications generated on your device and are not sent through our servers.

The optional Boatload Plus subscription lets you go ad-free. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), and subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, our subscription provider. We and RevenueCat receive a purchase record and an anonymous identifier so the app can confirm your subscription and restore it on a new device. We never receive your full payment card details — those stay with Apple or Google.

When the app loads schedules, it requests them from our servers. We may keep standard, non-identifying technical logs (such as the time of a request) to operate and troubleshoot the service. These logs are retained for a limited period for troubleshooting and then deleted.

Sponsored messages shown in the free version are served directly by Boatload. We do not use third-party advertising networks that track you across other apps or websites.

Boatload is a general-audience schedule tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
